Jesus Only, Jesus Ever, Jesus All in All We Sing, Eliza Tsai

I thank God that He has placed me in a lovely Christian family and a sweet life from my youth. From the very beginning I met with the local church because of my parents. However, through the Lord's mercy, He attracted me in a very personal and affectionate way. I realized that this Person, the Lord Jesus, is very wonderful.

When I was 12, I entered a very prestigious music school in Taiwan. During the six years of junior high and high school, I was busy with all kinds of recitals and competitions. I thought music was the meaning of my life. I desired to become a well-known pianist some day. One day, however, when I was preparing for my own recital I suddenly felt that what I as doing was vanity of vanities (Ecclesiastes 1:14). I felt so lonely facing such a big music hall alone. Although I poured my entire being into performing, the momentary applause and glory could never satisfy me. I felt very empty. After this incident, I went to a young people's meeting and we sang a hymn (Hymns, #206) that touched me deeply. It said:

O Christ, He is the fountain

The deep, sweet well of life

Its living streams I've tasted

Which save from grief and strife

And to an ocean fullness

His mercy doth expand

His grace is all-sufficient

As by His wisdom planned.

This hymn reminded me that there is Someone who really loves me and He is my fountain which never runs dry. His grace is all-sufficient and He is my hope of glory. After seeing this, I began to spend more time with the people from church.

After high school, I entered a college where many people meeting with the local church attended. Some families in the church opened their homes to care for the college students. At that time, of course, I was still majoring in piano performance, but music was no longer my occupation because I found the real meaning for my life. In1996, I heard a message by Witness Lee that really opened my eyes. He said that God's eternal economy is God became man to make man the same He is in nature and life but not in the Godhead (John 1:1, 14; 2 Corinthians 3:18). Witness Lee spoke about God's good pleasure and heart's desire in eternity (Ephesians 1:9). I really appreciated that speaking. I know the goal of my life is to pursue Christ and to prepare myself to become a part of His counterpart, His Bride (Revelation 21:9).

From that day on, my focus became Christ and the church. My goal was no longer music performance. Only God's economy can fulfill my heart's desire and meet God's need (Ephesians 3:9-10). Christ Jesus is my only theme. He is ever all in all.
